SPECTRUM (SPecial Education training on the web: Certification, Undergraduate and Mentoring) Program expands alternative certification options; in so doing strives to meet the needs of high-need Local Educational Agencies (LEA)s. Recruitment targets paraprofessionals, mid-career changers and recent college graduates with applicable knowledge and experiences. The program includes coursework with anchored instruction, case studies, intensive supervision, collaborative networks, and a blend of traditional induction supports and technology-based retention strategies. It aims to increase the number of highly qualified special education teachers committed to teaching in high-need LEAs.
