Program Description

The objective of this program is to support scientifically rigorous research contributing to the solution of specific early intervention and education problems associated with children with disabilities.

Through research grants and cooperative agreements, a comprehensive research program will address: the full range of issues facing children with disabilities, parents of children with disabilities, school personnel, and others; and gaps in scientific knowledge in order to improve special education
and early intervention services and results for infants, toddlers, and children with disabilities.

Research competitions will focus on topics that span the age range from preschool to postsecondary, which include both low and high incidence disabilities, and that are designed to generate solutions to problems in areas such as assessment, early intervention, behavior problems, language development, individualized education programs, and postsecondary and secondary transitions.


Types of Projects

Activities include applied and basic research in early intervention, special education, and related services.
