Special Meeting on TQE Scholarship Administration
Archived Information

The Teacher Quality Enhancement Grants (TQE) program will hold a special meeting in Washington, D.C. for all grantees who are using TQE grant funds to award scholarships to prospective teachers. This one-day meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 21, 2007, and attendance is required for all individuals who are involved in administering scholarships. This includes any scholarship coordinators at partner campuses as well as the individual with the overall responsibility for project-wide scholarship administration. Project directors are also urged to attend.

The purpose of the meeting is not only to provide more in-depth information about TQE scholarship administration than has been possible during brief sessions at the annual project directors' meeting, but also to provide this information to the individuals with hands-on responsibility for administering this activity. ED staff will review the purpose and use of scholarship forms, provide information about how information is used throughout the entire process of working with recipients, and provide examples on how to do --and how not to do-- things related to awarding and administering scholarships.

In addition, participants will be asked to share their views on the ED scholarship forms and procedures currently in use and to offer suggestions for improvements. Scholarship coordinators will be given the opportunity to provide feedback to TQE staff on the current scholarship regulations.

For more information about this meeting, contact Rachael Shultz at rachael.shultz@ed.gov.
