An eligible entity (see definition above) may apply for a grant to design and implement a character education program that is able to be: (a) integrated into classroom instruction and is consistent with state academic content standards and (b) carried out in conjunction with other education reform efforts.
Awards are made to eligible entities for the purpose of designing and implementing character education programs that take into consideration the views of parents, students, students with disabilities, and other members of the community. SEAs are to use their funds for: collaborative initiatives with
and between LEAs and schools; the preparation or purchase of materials and teacher training; and assistance to LEAs, schools, or IHEs.
