Instructions for the Lender/Guarantor Default Rate Files
Fiscal Year 2007
This page tells you how to view and use the information in the fiscal year (FY) 2007 official cohort default rates for lenders and guaranty agencies. Please note that though these instructions are specifically for the current release, they apply generally to previous releases; only the years would differ. Also, if a hard copy of the reports is required, please call the Cohort Default Rate Hotline at (202) 377-3053.
Using the Data
- The files have been compressed for downloading. To decompress them use PKUNZIP or WinZIP or any other application that can deal with the .zip extension.
- Once you have unzipped the files, you will see that they are in Microsoft Excel. Double-click on a file, and it will be open in Excel.
The LENDER07 file contains the official FY 2007 cohort default rate data for lenders with more than 30 borrowers in repayment. The GA07 file contains the official FY 2007 cohort default rate data for guaranty agencies.
The following tables define the file layout of the LENDER07 and GA07 files.
