DATE: August 31, 2000 The Success Express made its final school-stop at Clark Elementary School in Metropolis, Illinois. Secretary Riley, Assistant Secretary for Special Education and Rehabilitative Services Judy Heumann, and Illinois School Superintendent Glen "Max" McGee visited a first-grade special education class that has used federal funding to reduce class size. The Secretary addressed an audience of over 250 attendees, noting that this year was the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
