National Institutes

The Educational Research, Development, Dissemination, and Improvement Act of 1994 established five National Institutes to carry out programs of educational research in their topical areas.

Each of these Institutes is authorized to carry out a wide range of research and development activities designed to improve education. Activities planned for the fall of 1995 include competitions for new National Research and Development Centers and Field-Initiated Studies grant programs.

The five Institutes are:
