Each year the Office of Reform Assistance and Dissemination (ORAD) makes available a variety of publications on educational research, statistics, and promising and exemplary practices. An Educator's Guide to Evaluating the Use of Technology in Schools and Classrooms is a resource to help educators and administrators with little or no formal training in evaluation tailor evaluations to the needs of their schools and districts. Using a real-life, hands-on approach, the guide describes the evaluation process step by step. It provides tips, worksheets, sample questionnaires, and other tools for evaluation.

Meeting the Technology Challenge: Building New Learning Communities describes 62 Technology Innovation Challenge Grants. This publication discusses Challenge Grant communities that are working on integrating new technologies into state or local education improvement efforts to improve student achievement in reading, writing, science, mathematics, history, the arts and other disciplines. It is valuable for educators to use as a resource to create and implement their own plans for integrating technology into teaching and learning to achieve excellence among all students.

What to Expect Your First Year of Teaching presents recollections of award-winning, first-year teachers. This publication discusses the challenges, how these teachers surmounted them, what they would want new teachers to know, and why being a teacher is so crucial to their sense of self. These reflections may be helpful to principals, administrators, university professors in education departments, and especially, new teachers who are gearing up to face the first day of school.

The Catalog of School Reform Models: First Edition (March 1998) was developed by the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory (NWREL) in collaboration with the Education Committee of the States (ECS) at the request of the U.S. Department of Education (ED). It is part of ED's effort to provide information to schools, school districts, states, and others as they plan and implement comprehensive school reform programs.

Character Education Partnership Abstracts - a collection of abstracts on projects that were funded by The Partnership in Character Education Pilot Project Program.

Eisenhower National Clearinghouse On-Line - offers a variety of free publications, CD-ROMS, and professional development activities in mathematics and science education for teachers.

From Promise to Practice - a collection of stories that represent the contributions of the ten regional laboratories during the last contract period (1990-1995).

Help Your Child With Homework - provides parents with tips on how to increase the chances that their child will complete homework assignments successfully.

Helping Your Students With Homework - provides strategies teachers can use to encourage students to complete assignments and includes examples of exemplary homework assignments. Information was drawn from research and conversations with the 1996 State Teachers of the Year.

International Comparisons of Entrance and Exit Examinations - a publication that presents reviews of the educational systems in Japan, United Kingdom, France and Germany.

Profiles of the Regional Educational Laboratories - a handbook that describes each Laboratory's mission, key initiatives, and signature programs.

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards - provides information on the National Board Certification Process and a variety of publications on how to improve student learning by strengthening teaching.

Tried and True - a collection of 16 tested ideas that were developed by the Regional Educational Laboratories to improve teaching and learning.
