The Eisenhower Federal Activities Program provides support for a wide range of projects designed to improve the quality of teaching and instruction in the core academic subjects in the nation's schools. Funded under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended by Title II Part A of the Improving America's Schools Act of 1994, the program currently supports:

• Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Mathematics and Science Education (ENC): Operated through a contract with the Ohio State University Foundation, ENC identifies and disseminates mathematics and science instructional materials, provides technical assistance to educators in implementing and teaching methods and assessment tools, and collaborates with local, state, regional and national organizations engaged in educational improvement.

• National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS): The Board establishes high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do, develops and operates a national, voluntary system to assess and certify teachers who meet these standards, and advance related education reforms for the purpose of improving student learning in America's schools.
