Application, Guidance Provided to States for $10 Billion Education Jobs Fund
Today, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced that the application and guidance for states under the $10 billion Education Jobs Fund Program have been sent to governors and made available on the Education Department’s Web site. Yesterday, Secretary Duncan and senior department officials spoke with governors, chief state school officers and school board members to discuss the release of the application and appropriate uses of funds.
Duncan urged governors to act quickly and to turn applications in as soon as possible so money can flow to districts immediately and be used to support jobs this fall. Duncan also noted the Department will be using a streamlined application and is committed to turning around approvable applications within two weeks.
