CPAL Highlights Community Partnerships for Adult Education
Partnerships created by communities to provide adult education services more efficiently and effectively are being studied by OVAE's Community Partners for Adult Learning (CPAL) initiative. CPAL strives to foster successful community partnerships for adult education and strengthen the quality of teaching and learning in adult education programs. Its website serves as a main source of information and is regularly updated. Resources include "how-to" guides, curriculum information, evaluation strategies, research in adult education, and links to adult education reports, journals, and websites.
Attitude Factor In Reading Success
Students who express positive attitudes about reading, who read a variety of materials, and who spend time reading for pleasure are, on average, much better readers according to the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) survey. Analysis of the survey also indicates that reading engagement can, to some extent, compensate for the disadvantages in students' social background.
Governors Report on Their States

The Governors' speeches, which often include a preview of their agenda for the coming year, can be viewed at the NGA Website.
