Education, Agriculture Officials to Discuss Federal Support for Rural Schools at Rural State School Chiefs Meeting in Big Sky, Montana

The U.S. Department of Education’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Rural Outreach, John White, will join the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Under Secretary for Rural Development, Cheryl Cook, in Big Sky, Mont. June 8-9 to brief rural state school chiefs on how the two Departments are working together to increase awareness of federal resources available to support high-need rural schools.

Equity and Excellence Commission to Host Town Hall to Examine Disparities in Meaningful Educational Opportunities

U.S. Department of Education to Host LGBT Youth Summit in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will give remarks at the Department’s first-ever Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) youth summit at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington, D.C. The two-day summit, “Creating and Maintaining Safe and Supportive Environments for LGBT Youth,” will take place Monday-Tuesday, June 6-7.

Education Secretary Duncan to Discuss Reform Movement During Visit to Tennessee
