Deputy Director Marco Davis of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics (WHIEEH) will give keynote remarks at the Third Annual Color of Leadership Conference: A Male Perspective on Saturday, March 29, in Arlington, Va. Davis will discuss President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Initiative and the work the WHIEEH and its stakeholders are doing to support educational achievement and better life outcomes for Hispanic males.
The conference, sponsored by Arlington Public Schools’ Office of Minority Achievement, is designed to provide middle school-aged boys with skills and knowledge to enhance leadership skills and make positive choices about their future. Students from throughout the school system will attend the daylong conference, and will participate in workshops on topics such as conflict resolution, dressing for success, and success in high school. In the afternoon, they will attend a workshop on pursuing a career related to their interests.
On Oct. 19, 2010, President Obama signed Executive Order 13555, renewing the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics and demonstrating the administration’s strong support for the critical role Hispanics play in the overall prosperity of the nation.
