U.S. Under Secretary Martha Kanter to Participate in Event at Santa Fe College in Gainesville

Under Secretary Martha Kanter will deliver remarks and participate in a conversation with Santa Fe President Jackson Sasser, faculty and staff, on the subject "Technology Democratizes Higher Education" at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, in Gainesville, Fla.

The remarks and discussion will focus on the state of community colleges in the United States and these topic areas: MOOCs (massive open online courses), flip classes, advanced learning tools, open source learning and internationalizing a college.

A public state college in Florida, Santa Fe College enrolls close to 30,000 students annually in degree-seeking, enrichment, continuing education and workforce training programs on its eight campuses. It offers numerous 2-and 4-year degree and certificate programs and sends more transfer students to the University of Florida than any other college in the system.
