U.S. Secretary of Education to Participate in National Read Across America Day by Reading to Students in Dual Language Program

On Thursday, March 2, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will read to students at Tyler Elementary School in Washington, D.C., during National Read Across America Day. After a tour of the school, Secretary Cardona will read a Spanish language book to students in a Spanish/English dual language program. This activity comes on the heels of the Secretary’s recently announced Raise the Bar initiative, a national vision to advance educational equity and excellence that includes prioritizing increased opportunities for students to become multilingual.
