U.S. Secretary of Education Duncan to Join Army Chief of Staff Gen. Casey in Announcing 'Project Pass' in Radcliff, Ky.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will join U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey Jr. in announcing a new student character and leadership development program Friday at North Middle School in Radcliff, Ky.

The program, known as “Project PASS,” is a partnership among the U.S. Army, National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) and five communities across the country, including the Hardin County, Ky., schools. Project PASS is designed to build character and leadership to help middle and high school students become more productive in their schools and communities.

Upon arriving, Secretary Duncan and Gen. Casey will be greeted by a dozen Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Cadets from Hardin County followed by a classroom visit. The group will proceed to the school's gym where the ceremony will feature remarks by Secretary Duncan, Gen. Casey, Hardin County Schools Superintendent Nannette Johnston and Brenda Welburn, executive director of NASBE.

Following the event, a press availability will be held in the school's library with Duncan, Casey, Johnston and Welburn.
