Event Date 1: September 23, 2013 08:30 am - 11:00 am
U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will attend the 2013 National Business Leader Summit in Atlanta, Ga., on Monday, Sept. 23, where he will discuss the importance of investment in early learning to strengthen the economy and global competitiveness.
The summit, hosted by ReadyNation-America’s Promise Alliance and the Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students (GEEARS), will bring together business executives and public officials to discuss support for early learning to build the nation’s workforce and strengthen the economy. Executives from some of the world’s most respected companies will announce and affirm their organizations’ commitment to young children as a national economic priority.
To help all children begin kindergarten on a level playing field, the President has called for three proposals to support our youngest Americans: Preschool for All, Early Head Start-Child Care Parnterships, and an expansion of the Home Visiting program. The President’s 2014 budget request includes a historic new investment in these proposals to give children a strong start toward a bright future.
