U.S. Education Official to Address Corpus Christi Vocational Rehabilitation Conference

Lynnae Ruttledge, commissioner of the U.S. Department of Education's Rehabilitation Services Administration, will address the Texas RehabACTion Network-sponsored Annual Employer Symposium entitled, "Opening Doors, Creating Opportunities," Friday at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi.
Ruttledge will discuss her personal and professional experience in utilizing vocational rehabilitation (VR) services and outline the issues important to the Corpus Christi community on employment, training and partnering with public VR services. She also will share the business case for employing individuals with disabilities. More than 100 VR service providers, employers and consumers in the Corpus Christi area are expected.
As commissioner, Ruttledge oversees grant programs that help individuals with physical or mental disabilities obtain employment and live more independently through such supports as counseling, medical and psychological services, job training and other individualized services.
