U.S. Department of Education Senior Official to Visit Camden, New Jersey, for Parent and Community Engagement Day

Alberto Retana, U.S. Department of Education’s director of community outreach, will participate in the Camden Board of Education’s Parent and Community Engagement Day at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Catto Elementary School in Camden, N.J. Retana will discuss the importance of parental involvement and ways to get parents and entire families involved in schools. Parent and Community Engagement Day will promote the importance of parental involvement in boosting student learning and improving behavior and attendance; and highlight how children with families who are engaged in their education are less likely to drop out of school.
