U.S. Department of Education Senior Official to Hold National Youth Listening Session in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Event Date 1: September 16, 2010 06:00 pm - 08:00 pm
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—Alberto Retana, U.S. Department of Education’s director of community outreach, will visit Albuquerque, N.M. on Thursday, Sept. 16, to host a National Youth Listening Session on college access and completion. He will engage students in a discussion on how school, family and community can help them establish and promote a culture where college graduation is the norm rather than the exception. The listening session will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. MDT at Central New Mexico Community College.
The Albuquerque visit is part of a National Youth Listening Tour that is engaging students and using their feedback to inform federal policies on turnaround strategies for low-performing schools, enhance family engagement to support student achievement, improve graduation rates, and promote efforts to meet the President’s national goal of once again leading the world in college completion by 2020.
