Eduardo Ochoa, assistant secretary for postsecondary education at the U.S. Department of Education, will give remarks at an American Enterprise Institute (AEI) event at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the organization’s Wohlstetter Conference Center in Washington, D.C. The theme of the event is “Degrees of Difficulty: Can American Higher Education Regain Its Edge?” Ochoa will discuss postsecondary productivity, raising attainment rates and capacity, all of which advance the President’s national goal of leading the world in college completion by 2020.

The event will bring together researchers, policymakers and practitioners to identify the challenges and opportunities that surround the push to make American higher education more productive and to explore strategies to raise degree completion rates, the policy issues that currently hinder progress, and what can be learned from state-level reform strategies.

AEI is dedicated to research and education on issues such as government, politics, economics and social welfare. Founded in 1943, the organization is home to some of America’s most accomplished public policy experts.
