U.S. Department of Education Senior Official to Deliver Keynote Address at American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence

U.S. Department of Education Deputy Assistant Secretary Carl Harris will deliver the keynote address at the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence’s Teacher of the Year Awards Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, in Washington, D.C. He will discuss the importance of quality teachers in the classroom and the need for high quality teacher preparation and certification programs across the country.

The American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) has named Jeremiah Young, a science teacher from Beaufort High School in South Carolina, as the recipient of its inaugural National Teacher of the Year Award.

The ABCTE is dedicated to recruiting, preparing, certifying and supporting dedicated professionals to improve student achievement through quality teaching.
