U.S. Assistant Education Secretary Deb Delisle will address the Past President's Reception at the 19th Annual Illinois Association for Gifted Children Convention in Naperville, Ill., on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 5 p.m. Delisle will deliver informal remarks highlighting the Department's 2014 education priorities.

The convention will bring together classroom teachers, gifted coordinators, administrators and parents to attend presentations in the areas of program development, specific subject areas, social and emotional issues, parenting and underserved gifted populations.

Students with talent are found in all cultural groups, across all economic strata and in all areas of human endeavor. Gifted and talented programs -- some of which are aimed especially at those who are economically disadvantaged, limited English speaking, and with disabilities -- help afford students the opportunity to reach their academic potential.
