U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will deliver the keynote address at the National Center on Education and the Economy National Symposium Tuesday in Washington, D.C. The symposium will focus on "What the U.S. Can Learn from the Nations with the Best Performing Education Systems." In his remarks, Duncan will discuss lessons on improving education from around the world.
The U.S. Department of Education's Equity and Excellence Commission will convene its second meeting on May 23-24 at the U.S. Department of Education. The two-day meeting will provide a general update on progress since the last commission meeting, including a summary of outreach activities conducted by the Commission in April and May.
