U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary Michael Yudin will visit Fairmont High School at 11 a.m. ET Wednesday in Fairmont, N.C. Fairmont High is using School Improvement Grant funds to turn around the school and improve student achievement. With the help of a three-year, $3.1 million School Improvement grant, the school has developed a Ninth Grade Academy and coordinates services in support of parent and community engagement. Since 2009, the state of North Carolina has received more than $119 million in SIG awards.
