Seth Galanter, the U.S. Education Department’s acting assistant secretary for civil rights, will discuss student discipline, suspension, and expulsion at a professional development summit entitled, “Strategies to Increase Excellence in Education for African-American Students” at 12:15 p.m. PT, on Thursday, Feb. 21, in Sacramento, Calif. The summit is cosponsored by the California Association of African-American Superintendents and Administrators (CAASA), the California Department of Education, and the Association of California School Administrators.
