Senior Education Department Officials to Discuss ESEA and Idea Legislation at Meeting on Using Data to help Implement Education Policy and Drive Reform

U.S. Assistant Secretaries of Education Dr. Alexa Posny and Carmel Martin will make a joint presentation on using data to help make informed decisions about education policy and reform at the 2010 IDEA Data Managers and EDFacts Coordinators conference meeting on Tuesday, June 22 in Washington, D.C. Posny and Martin will discuss how data are being used to examine the implementation of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), help drive reform, and improve educational outcomes.

The conference will include in-depth examination of state-reported data about children with disabilities through workshops about assessment, graduation and dropout, and discipline.
