Senior Advisor to the Secretary to Address Texas Education Conference in Keynote Speech

Jo Anderson, senior advisor to Secretary Duncan, will deliver the keynote address at the First Annual District Awards for Teacher Excellence Summer Institute in San Antonio this Monday. Anderson plans to discuss strategic, performance-based competition for teachers in a speech to school officials representing various districts in the state.

The inaugural event will draw over 320 Texas educators, and will feature lectures, panel discussions and planning sessions, as distinguished teachers pool their knowledge. In keeping with the theme of rewarding talented teachers, Anderson’s speech will cover investment in both the Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) specifically, and in compensation for teachers as part of an overall education strategy. Prior to his tenure as Senior Advisor to the Secretary, Jo Anderson served as the Executive Director of the Illinois Education Association (IEA-NEA).
