Secretary Duncan, Senior Education Officials to Address National Special Education 'Mega Conference'

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan along with senior members of his leadership team will address a national special education forum bringing together more than 700 people involved with educating America's 6.7 million students with disabilities. Also appearing will be White House Special Assistant to the President for Disability Policy Kareem Dale.
The Education Department's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) is sponsoring the event, known as the "2010 OSEP Leadership Mega Conference," Monday through Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Va.
State special education directors, parent information center leaders and early childhood educators will be among the groups represented. Participants will hear about the Education Department's initiatives and priorities, especially those serving the nation's children and youth with disabilities. Among the conference goals will be to strengthen collaboration among states, constituencies and agencies.
Secretary Duncan is scheduled to deliver a keynote address to approximately 250 parent training program grantees at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. The conference Web site, including the agenda, is posted at http://leadershipmega-conf-reg.tadnet.org/home.
