U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will deliver the keynote address at the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) annual Leadership Conference Tuesday in Washington, D.C. In his remarks, Duncan will discuss initiatives that the Education Department has undertaken against bullying and discrimination to keep all students safe and learning.

Last October, the Education Department's Office for Civil Rights issued guidance to support educators in combating bullying in schools by clarifying when student bullying may violate federal education anti-discrimination laws. Kevin Jennings, assistant deputy secretary for the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, will also participate in a 1 p.m. panel discussion on bullying.

The Anti-Defamation League was founded in 1913 "to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all." ADL fights anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, defends democratic ideals and protects civil rights for all.
