Assistant Deputy Secretary to Discuss Importance of a Safe, Supportive School Environment at American School Health Association's Annual Conference

Kevin Jennings, assistant deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, will discuss the importance of creating a safe and supportive school environment at the American School Health Association’s annual conference in Kansas City, Mo. His keynote address will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and U.S. Rep. Earl Pomeroy will visit New Salem-Almont High School in New Salem, N.D., on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Following the classroom visits, Duncan and Pomeroy will hold a North Dakota Education Roundtable discussion and media availability. They will discuss the challenges and opportunities for rural schools.
