Education Secretary Duncan to Speak at Event Unveiling Public/Private Partnership to Improve Job Skills

U.S. Secretary Arne Duncan will join Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and others at Montgomery College on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 11:00 a.m. at an event announcing a public/private partnership between Discovery Communications and Montgomery College to better prepare students with the critical skills needed for today’s job market. Discovery will also announce an expansion of its “Discover Your Skills” public affairs campaign, developed in partnership with Skills for America’s Future, an initiative launched by President Obama to bring industry and community colleges together to maximize workforce development strategies, job training programs and job placement. Duncan’s remarks will focus on the importance of high-quality education and training to meet the needs of employers, grow the economy, and make America more competitive in the global marketplace. They will tour Montgomery College’s health sciences simulation lab prior to the announcement.
