Education Secretary Duncan to Discuss Administration's Goals for Career and Technical Education During Leadership Meeting

U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will outline the Department’s vision for career and technical education during the joint spring meeting of the National Association of State Directors of Career Technical Education Consortium (NASDCTEc) and the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE). Duncan will deliver his remarks at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, to kick off the second day of the three-day joint leadership meeting. He will be welcomed by Phil Berkenbile, president of NASDCTEc, and introduced by Brenda Dann-Messier, assistant secretary for OVAE. The event will be held at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The purpose of the spring meeting with the State Directors of Career and Technical Education is to discuss strategies and policies related to improving career and technical education. The meeting will also provide information on research and emerging issues, and participants are given opportunities to share best practices and receive updates on partnership activities with the economic development, workforce development and education reform communities.
