Education Secretary Duncan to Announce 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools, Highlight Importance of Preparing Students for College and Careers

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will announce the 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, at Arlington Traditional Elementary School in Arlington, Va. Duncan will be joined by Arlington Public Schools Superintendent Patrick Murphy and Congressman Jim Moran for the event.

National Blue Ribbon Schools are selected based on their overall academic excellence or for making progress in improving student achievement levels. At the event, Duncan will discuss the importance of accelerating student achievement and preparing students for success in college and careers.
