Education Secretary Arne Duncan Participates in Back to School with the Historymakers, Joins Rev. Al Sharpton and Roger Wilkins for a Visit to Dorothy I. Height Community Academy Public Charter School

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Rev. Al Sharpton and Pulitzer prize-winning author, distinguished professor and journalist Roger Wilkins will visit Dorothy I. Height Community Academy Public Charter School on Friday, Sept. 17 as part of the "Back-to-School With The HistoryMakers" initiative. A Dorothy I. Height Community Academy PCS student will greet and administer introductory Q&A with Duncan, Sharpton and Wilkins. The three guests will each speak to students about their personal education experience and emphasize the life-long impact of a good education.
In celebration of their 10th year as the nation's largest African-American video oral history archive, The HistoryMakers are launching the "Back-to-School With The HistoryMakers" initiative to help confront the issue of youth violence and inspire youth to greatness. The HistoryMakers have organized more than 200 African-American HistoryMakers to return to schools in more than 30 states across the country to recount their own school experiences and the challenges they faced.
