On Nov. 5-13, Eduardo Ochoa, assistant secretary for the Office of Postsecondary Education, will participate in a week-long study of India entitled “Enhancing Institutional Linkages with India through Partnership.” Ochoa, along with the American university officials, will visit potential Indian partner campuses and international organizations in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi to explore future international study and instruction arrangements.
During the trip, Ochoa will provide panel remarks at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) Higher Education Summit 2010, a two-day global conference taking place Nov. 11-12 at the FICCI Federation House in New Delhi. Ochoa’s remarks at the FICCI event, which is open to the media, will focus on the higher education landscape in America. He will deliver that address at 2:40 p.m. IST on Nov. 12.
The FICCI summit will bring together key government leaders, education officials and corporate figures to share ideas and identify policy imperatives. Several representatives from international educational institutions will address the conference, including John DeGioia, president of Georgetown University, who will speak during the inaugural session. Ochoa will deliver his remarks a plenary session entitled “Higher Education Landscape in the USA, Canada, U.K., Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and India: An Overview.”
Sponsored by the Institute of International Education (IIE) with the support of the U.S. Department of Education's Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE), Ochoa will travel as part of a delegation from universities and colleges across the U.S., participating through the 2010 International Academic Partnership Program (IAPP). The study is the culmination of this year-long training program focused on implementing and sustaining partnerships with higher education institutions throughout India.
