Education Assistant Secretary to Address Smithsonian Teachers' Night

U.S. Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education Thelma Melendez will give opening remarks at the Smithsonian Teachers' Night 2010 at 7:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, Oct. 22 at the National Museum of American History. Melendez will thank teachers for their commitment and hard work and recognize the importance of partnerships between teachers, schools and other public educational institutions like the Smithsonian. Smithsonian Teachers' Night is an annual event for teachers of all subjects and grade levels to meet Smithsonian educators, attend demonstrations of school programs and materials and participate in the annual education expo where they can find new classroom-ready resources.
