John S. Wilson, director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, will address the 138th President's Opening Convocation at Wiley College Tuesday in Marshall, Texas.
In his remarks, Wilson will discuss the challenges in meeting President Obama's goal of ensuring that America produces the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020. In particular, he will focus on the specific role that Wiley College can play, given its enduring legacy of producing outstanding leaders.
Wiley College is one of the nation's 105 HBCUs, which are located in 20 states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands, serving more than 300,000 students.
