Deputy Under Secretary Jamienne Studley will serve on a panel titled, “The Challenges We Face … The Mission We Share” at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 13, at the New York Marriott Marquis.
The panel is being held at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) 2014 Summit for Leaders in Advancement, which will address the questions that higher education leaders face in the public dialogue.
CASE and the Dialogue Media Group of New York are sponsoring this unique panel, whose format will use hypothetical, research-based scenarios and role-playing to explore how decisions are made and what their impact will be for a variety of constituents. The moderator will guide the panel through a narrative that reveals the dilemmas, choices and decision-making processes confronting all sides in concrete situations.
In addition to Studley, other panelists include Danielle Allen, UPS Foundation professor, School of Science, Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton University; Melody Barnes, vice provost for Global Student Leadership Initiatives, New York University; Sandy Baum, senior fellow, Urban Institute and Research professor, George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development; Elizabeth Coleman, president emeritus, Bennington College; Buck Goldstein, University Entrepreneur in Residence, professor of the practice, Department of Economics, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; William English (Brit) Kirwan, chancellor, University System of Maryland; Hunter Rawlings III, president, Association of the American Universities; John Sexton, president, New York University; Martin Shell, vice president for development, Stanford University; Brent Staples, journalist, New York Times, Editorial Board; and Sheryl WuDunn, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist. The panel will be moderated by Robert Jackson, professor, Columbia Law School.
