Jose Rico, deputy director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, will give remarks at “Viva Fest,”the Mexican Heritage Corporation’s 20th annual San Jose Mexican Heritage Festival and Mariachi Conference at noon PDT on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Rico will discuss the Obama administration’s strategies to increase Latino students’ access to a quality education and improve their rates of education attainment to keep the U.S. competitive in a global economy.
