Glenn Cummings, deputy assistant secretary for vocational and adult education, will discuss the Department’s emphasis on ensuring that students are college and career ready, as well as the importance of career and technical education, at the opening session of the Kansas Association of Career and Technical Education Summer Conference. He will deliver remarks at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at the Sheraton Hotel (Convention Center) in Overland Park, Kansas. He also will share his insights on the future of career and technical education as a means of developing and expanding a competitive workforce during a panel discussion from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. that afternoon.
The three-day conference, which takes place Aug. 2-4, will bring together an estimated 500 career and technical education teachers and administrators from secondary and postsecondary schools and institutions of higher learning. The Career and Technical Education summer conference is presented by the Kansas Association for Career and Technical Education, the Kansas State Department of Education, the Kansas Council for Workforce Education, and the Kansas Board of Regents.
