Department Official to Serve as Panelist on Education Reform at Tulane University’s Urban Innovation Conference

Jim Shelton, assistant deputy secretary for the Office of Innovation and Improvement, will participate in a panel discussion on innovation in education reform, during the Urban Innovation Conference Friday, Oct. 1 in New Orleans. Titled "New Orleans as the Model City for the 21st Century: New Concepts on Urban Innovation," the one-day symposium is being co-sponsored by Tulane University and the Rockefeller Foundation.
Shelton will join Timothy Ryan, University of New Orleans, Leslie Jacobs, CEO, Strategic Comp and Charter Schools Planner, and Tony Recasner, co-founder, First Line Schools. Panelists will discuss the latest thinking in school reform, the charter school movement and the opportunities and challenges still ahead.
