Jim Shelton, assistant deputy secretary for the Office of Innovation and Improvement, will serve as a panelist in an event titled "The Return on Education Investment: A district-by-district evaluation of U.S. educational productivity." The event marks the release of a ground-breaking report that attempts to evaluate nearly every major school district in the country.
The event, sponsored by the Center for American Progress (CAP), will take place at the CAP January 19 in Washington, D.C. The panel discussion will include researchers who created the report as well as with other experts in the area of school productivity.
Shelton will talk about the Department's work regarding productivity and discuss the broader need for schools to do more with less.
