Assistant Deputy Secretary Kevin Jennings to Address Joint Meeting on Adolescent Treatment Effectiveness (JMATE) in Baltimore

Kevin Jennings, assistant deputy secretary of the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, will address JMATE’s plenary session at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel. He will discuss efforts by the Education Department and federal government to reach out to youth currently in recovery.

U.S. Education Secretary Duncan to Address Town Hall Listening Session with Tribal Officials

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will address a town hall listening session with tribal officials Wednesday in Washington. The session, being held in advance of the White House Tribal Nations Conference on Thursday, is intended to give tribal officials an opportunity to engage in dialogue with the department's senior staff on improving American Indian and Alaska Native education.

Under Secretary of Education to Honor Graduates at St. Philip's College Commencement

Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter will deliver the commencement address during a ceremony at St. Philip’s College in San Antonio, Texas, on Friday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. Kanter will join the college’s president, Adena Williams Loston, and the Board of Trustees in conferring 975 associate degrees and certificates to graduating students.
