Assistant Secretary Alexa Posny, whose Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) administers the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), will deliver the keynote address at the third annual Disability to Possibility symposium Saturday in Springfield, Ill. Posny will discuss her vision for the future of special education and her goals for OSERS.
The workshop, sponsored by the Springfield Public Schools, will feature advice and information from special education experts about dyslexia, autism spectrum disorders, siblings and family dynamics, conflict resolution, assistive technology, gifted education, how to reduce stress, hearing impairments, parental rights, ADHD, learning disabilities, how the brain works and how to develop effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
