Assistant Secretary Ochoa to Serve on Panel at Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's 2012 Young Latino Leaders Summit

U.S. Assistant Secretary Eduardo Ochoa will serve on a panel at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s (CHCI) 2012 Young Latino Leaders Summit, at 1:00 p.m. ET on Monday, April 16. Entitled “Latinos in Private For-Profit Institutions and College Completion,” the summit will look at the growing trend in Latino student enrollment at for-profit schools and their poor completion outcomes.

Ochoa will discuss the Obama Administration’s recent rules to strengthen federal student aid programs at career colleges to protect borrowers and taxpayers. He will also discuss the Administration’s efforts to increase college attainment for Hispanics and other higher education initiatives around college access, affordability and completion.

The summit, which begins with opening remarks by U.S. Rep. Ruben Hinojosa, will be moderated by CHCI’s Enrique Soto. In addition to Ochoa, other panelists include Beth Stein, U.S. Senate HELP Committee, Marcela Iglesias, DeVry University, and Jose Cruz, the Education Trust.
