Assistant Secretary Ochoa to Discuss Strengthening American Students' International Competencies Before Senate Committee

Eduardo Ochoa, the assistant secretary for the Office of Postsecondary Education, will testify before the Oversight of Government Management, the Federal Workforce, and the District of Columbia subcommittee, part of the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, May 21. Ochoa will be one of several panelists – including representatives from the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Justice – to speak during the hearing titled "A National Security Crisis: Foreign Language Capabilities in the Federal Government."

Ochoa will discuss the Department’s goal to increase the foreign language competencies of all U.S. students and its strategy to strengthen U.S. education while advancing America’s international priorities. The hearing will be held in room 342 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
