Brenda Dann-Messier, assistant secretary for the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE), will deliver the keynote address to the closing general session of the 21st Annual Symposium of the Pennsylvania Association of Career and Technical Administrators Friday at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, Pa.
About 250 career and technical education administrators are expected for the session. In her remarks, Dann-Messier will discuss the Education Department's goals and efforts toward advancing the success of community colleges and career and technical education.
As head of OVAE, Dann-Messier leads the department's work to support adult education and career and technical education, as well as community colleges and correctional education. OVAE oversees 11 grant programs in those areas, totaling more than $1.9 billion annually.
