Brenda Dann-Messier, assistant secretary of the Office of Vocational and Adult Education, will give opening remarks at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship (ACA) meeting Thursday, Feb. 2, at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will take place at Department of Labor’s Frances Perkins Building. Dann-Messier will discuss how the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Labor are working together to strengthen registered apprenticeship programs, including ongoing efforts to:

The committee, an advisory board to Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis, is comprised of approximately 30 individuals representing labor unions, employers and the public. The mission of the ACA is to provide advice and recommendations on the development and implementation of policies, legislation and regulations affecting apprenticeship; the preparation of the American workforce for sustained employment through employment and training programs; the development of measures that foster quality workplaces that are safe, healthy and fair; and strategies that meet the competitive labor demands of a global economy.
