Kevin Jennings, assistant deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, will discuss the Department's commitment to improving educational opportunities and resources for Native students at an all-day Tribal Leader Listening and Learning session, beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, August 5, in Pembroke, North Carolina. Hosted by the North Carolina Commission of Indian Affairs, the event will focus on improving academic outcomes for Native American students in North Carolina. Jennings will be joined by the Department's Deputy Assistant Secretary Michael Yudin and Acting Director of the Office of Indian Education Jenelle Leonard.
